Making chocolate chip cookies with my monkey. I have a tip for all you mom's out there too. We use applesauce instead of egg, then we don't have to worry about salmonella poisoning if we eat the dough! This time, we didn't actually bake them, we ate the dough.. oops!

To use applesauce instead of eggs, simply use 1/3 cup of applesauce for every egg the recipe calls for.

Summer Television

I'll be the first to admit that I am a big television watcher. I'm a stay at home mother, and after long days filled with childrens music and tons of crying, I like to relax at the end of the night in front of the tube. The list of shows I watch is pretty long, and my husband has caught me at different times calling about 10 different shows my 'favorite'. Well, summer has rolled around again, and the nightly viewing is sparse. I've been filling the gaps watching some old episodes of "The O.C" on DVD (that I bought at a garage sale). We are almost to the series finale of the entire show, so soon I'll be left to my own devices.

My husband hates the television, he constantly threatens to cut the cable. We actually have cut it before, for several months, so its nothing new. Once the finale of Vampire Diaries aired, I caved and told my hubby that he could scale back the cable. We now only have basic cable, no fancy HD, no movie channels, no HBO! I've honestly been leaning towards cancelling altogether.

I've been mourning the loss of Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries, 90210, Grey's Anatomy, etc. etc. What shows are you missing?

Summer Is Here!

The weather is finally starting to be really beautiful in Beautiful British Columbia!! This weekend will mark my families first camping trip of the year, actually its our first camping trip as a family EVER! Our son is now two and we think he is ready for his very first camping trip.

I'm going to be honest, I'm not a wilderness loving type of girl. I went camping, infrequently, with my parents when I was a young girl. My mom was never a wilderness loving girl either. I do love working on my tan, and drifting down the river on a tube, though. It was when I had a baby, that I realized I would have to give up my reservations about camping, and start creating some great memories for my son. He's a boy, so I'm sure lots of boyish activities are in my future.

The best part for me about camping, I'll admit. Is the shopping trip that I have to go on this afternoon, to buy camping gear for the family. Some zebras never change their stripes.

Points Programs

I have to admit, that I should probably be in a support group for people who are addicted to rewards programs. I never hopped on the bandwagon until around March of 2009, but there is no going back. I actually had to buy a BIGGER wallet. Gone are the days of carrying around my wallet in my back pocket. These days I lug around a huge purse containting a massive, overflowing wallet and two coupon binders. Its definitely more cumbersome to lug around the beast that is my purse, but its worth it. Although at times it feels like having a second child.

The cards that I carry with me at all times include; an HBC rewards card, a Sephora Beauty Insider card, Save On More Rewards, Air Miles, Aeroplan, Shoppers Optimum, M&M meats, Rogers Video Star Rewards, 2 Ciniplex Scene Cards (my husbands and my own), and a VIP student price card. Not to mention that the two credit cards I own, both have points programs attached to them.

If you are thinking points programs aren't worth it, I would like to urge you to think differently. Just on my Shoppers Optimum card I have enough points to get $340 worth of free product. Our combined scene cards have enough points to send us to the movies 3 times. My Rogers Video Star Rewards card, in the 2 months that I've had it, has already earned me enough points to get Disney/Pixars "UP", and Fantastic Mr. Fox FREE!

So next time the cashier offers you the option to sign up for a free rewards card, DO IT, and you could be earning free stuff too!
